How to build a personal dashboard with Claude (no coding)
Updated 4 October 2026
Claude can build you a working dashboard file if you give it a precise description. The hard part is writing that description. This guide shows the process and where the prompt comes from.
The idea in one minute
You answer a handful of questions about what you want to keep track of. Those answers become one detailed build prompt. You paste the prompt into Claude, and Claude builds a dashboard file that opens in your browser on your own computer.
What you need
- A Claude account. A free account is enough.
- A Mac or Windows computer.
- Your own information, typed in or imported later. Nothing has to be connected to start.
See your own dashboard, free
Answer five short questions and preview a dashboard built around your life. No account, and nothing is charged before you choose a package.
How it goes
- Preview first. Start the five questions on DashboardHQ and watch a sample dashboard form as you choose. It is free and needs no account.
- Choose what to include. Finances, calendar, goals, career, business, property, learning, fitness, and more.
- Paste the prompt into Claude. It describes each section and its fields, so Claude does not have to guess.
- Launch and add your information. The package includes a launch walkthrough and simple forms inside the dashboard.
Connecting what you already use
If your tasks or notes already live in Notion, the build can read them when your assistant has a Notion connection, or you can import an export file. Either way it is a one-time import you preview and confirm. Nothing keeps syncing by itself unless you add the optional Auto-Refresh package, and no passwords are involved.
Limits worth knowing
- Claude can make mistakes. Check numbers and dates before relying on them.
- There is no automatic bank connection, on purpose.
- Phone and tablet support is not available yet.
Common questions
Is a free Claude account enough?
Yes. The packages work with Claude or ChatGPT, and a free account is enough.
Can I change the dashboard later?
Yes. You can ask the same assistant to adjust sections or fields, and the dashboard includes a backup button so you can keep your records safe first.
Where are my records stored?
On your own computer. DashboardHQ does not receive them.
